GENERAL PALLET INFORMATION
Pallets have been assisting in the transportation and storage of goods for many years. Initially starting with Standard Pallets, before the industry saw the introduction of Plastic and EPAL Euro Pallets. In recent times pallet manufacturers have explored other avenues including sustainable methods to create new types of pallets, and sourcing timber from sustainable sources to build new timber pallets.
Whilst pallets vary in size, materials used in construction, and weight tolerances. But not all pallets are created equal.
Read on below to find out important and key information regarding making the RIGHT decision on pallet supplier, why buying from low quantity and low quality sellers on online marketplaces can be a costly mistake
Buying from MARKS PALLETS
Whilst we COULD explain how the buying process works, and how simple it is, we figured why not show you with the magic of 2 minutes of video. If you are in a quiet workplace, audio is not required for this video.
The importance of a quality standard pallet
For many a pallet may just seem like “just some wood nailed together to transport stuff on”, but the reality is vastly different.
Think about what is on those pallets, and how they are used.
Can you afford to write off damaged, dirty, or fungi contaminated stock? Can you afford delays when pallets are rejected due to lack of fumigation? Can you afford shipping delays and angry customers when a pallet fails during the transport, handover, or recovery from warehouse storage?
Choosing a quality and reliable Sydney pallet supplier is important.
A single pallet can carry not only lots of weight, but incredibly valuable stock. Pallets also aren’t just about delivering goods, but about the presentation of goods. Don’t risk your company’s reputation on cheap, dirty, or poorly constructed pallets. This can lead to product damage, product marking, or even complete collapse of the pallet.
Can you afford to lose a client OR a pallet load of stock?
Whilst we sell used pallets, it is important to remember that one cannot determine how much weight a pallet has carried, and how many times it has carried weight. Our second hand pallets go through stringent quality checks but we cannot guarantee weight loadings.
Caring for your Standard and EPAL Euro Pallets
Wooden pallets should be checked for damage prior to use, and after unloading. If missing nails, boards, or any visible damage pallets should be discarded, repaired professionally or replaced.
Wooden pallets should be kept out of rain and conditions that can harbour fungi. This includes if outside undercover during winter, where dew can form and assist fungi to grow, or in high humidity environments.
Timber Standard Pallets can also be impacted by long exposure to the sun outdoors. Constant high outdoor heat exposure can lead to buckling, and unsightly colour changes.
Caring for your Plastic Pallets
Whilst plastic pallets are durable, they are not indestructible. When exposed to adverse weather conditions or constant sun, they can become brittle. Not all plastic pallets are suitable for freezing or refrigeration either, and this can lower the lifespan of your plastic pallets.
Plastic Pallets can be washed, scrubbed, pressure washed, and disinfected/sanitized for reuse without fumigation treatment.
